Brioni supports and operates one of Italy’s very respected tailoring schools. Instructing the students in old world craftsmanship that is the core to the Brioni garment. The school is a four-year program and some of the graduates are offer positions in the Brioni factory. Brioni opened it doors in 1945 post WW11, when Rome was in shambles. It was a business based in fine design and fashion and its was geared towards a wealth clientele. A bold move given the economic environment of the time. The founders of the company chose the name, Brioni, an island that was exclusive to aristocrats and the wealthy prior to the war. It was also a name that could be remembered, short and easy to pronounce, even for Americans. After all the Americans had the money to spend after WW11. |
